Flies

Out of the more than 240,000 different species of flies in existence in the United States there the three most common species encountered by Sipple and Son Pest Control are the Cluster Fly, Drain Fly and the Fruit Fly. Like many other pests, flies are looking for a food source and a safe place to call home.  Flies are generally harmless and a nuisance pest however, they are capable of carrying and spreading germs and diseases to people by biting or by landing on food.

Characteristics

Cluster Flies: Adult flies range in size from 3/8th to 1/2 an inch long.

Drain Fly:  Also known as moth flies size ranges from 1/5th to 1/6th of an inch in length. They are dark gray in color and are covered with long hair giving them a fuzzy appearance. These flies tend to be more active at night typically in bathroom, kitchens or basements.

Fruit Flies: Small fruit flies get to be only about 1/8″ long in size. They are tan to brown in color with red eyes.
